What is the significance of a wolf

However, in the Slavic, old Serbian mythology, wolves were used as a totem, and in Serbian epic poetry, wolves are symbols of fearlessness. It also reflects the ever-popular beliefs held among many young Chinese people that see working harder to be both the ultimate drive and the goal of life.

You could relate this to how wolves work very hard to survive as a team to become a dominant worldwide predator. As you can see, wolves have a rich background in being symbolic of many things, from guardians to ravenous, dangerous beasts, to being warriors and perfect forces of nature. In every culture that has seen a wolf, these animals were symbolized and were often involved in stories of mythology, folklore, religion, and more.

Wolves as represented in totems are representative of a lighter side of the wolf symbolism. This means representations of loyalty, intuition, intelligence, independence, compassion, and communication, as well as cunning. When totem wolves are representative of a person, they belong to those who understand the depth of passion that wolves belong to.

In this sense, wolves are representative of deep faith and profound understanding. In history, totem wolf symbols appear in Rome. Legend says the two founding brothers were raised and suckled by a she-wolf, Lupa. She was said to nurture Roman heroes, so they would be fearless and cunning. In Norse mythology, the wolf is a victory symbol when ridden by Odin.

They were warriors and would allow Odin the best hunting grounds and knowledge of the people. They were also among many other creatures who aided Valkyries in transporting warriors to Valhalla.

Among Celts, wolves were a source of lunar power. Whereas in Asia, wolves guard the doors that allow entrance to heavenly, celestial realms.

In Japan, wolves are considered to be lucky and offerings of rice would be offered to Kamidana, the wolf spirit of nature to hunt down pests that disturbed crops. When considering wolf associations in spirits, we often refer to wolves as spirit animals. In this sense the wolf comes to support and teach us about matters of balance, self-control, power, and our innate animal instincts. They let predators know that they can fight to the death, however, they will rarely initiate combat unless they have to do so.

This does not apply to prey, of course. Humans are animals, and we often forget this. What dose it mean when u have a vision in the day where u are in a river flowing on your back then you are on the forset floor looking up and turn your head and a wolf is walking to you stands for a few mins late down nexted to u and you are petting the wolf this happened to me it was so peaceful and claiming and loving.

I hope you read this. Yesterday I meditated because I felt I was ready to meet my spirit animal. A beautiful white wolf came to me and she allowed me to hug her. She told me that she would protect me, but that I also had to focus and look out for myself as well.

To be very honest, I have always felt a great admiration for wolves and I was never scared of one. My parents have very good friends and they own two sheep dogs. I wanted to ask you if there could be any reason behind the fact that my spirit animal is white?

Could my spirit animal also be my power animal because I can relate so much to the wolf? And according to my birthday my totem animal is a bear, an animal to which I can also relate. The description of the bear says that the complimentary spirit animal is a wolf? Can you help me with this? Thank you very much for the advise on your website! I had a dream where a pitch black wolf with blue eyes appeared to me.

I had an experience where I had a entity try get me. And I started growling like a wolf would. In the early days of May I became very ill suddenly , but not ill enough to go to hospital. My family were very worried but I kept trying to brush it off for a day or two at the most.

By the morning of day two I knew something was very wrong, my eyes looked like they were on stalks they were huge and staring. I felt hot but was cool to the touch and was very pale in colour. I leaned against the sink catching a glimpse of myself in the mirror, I looked awful, I turned around and jumping through the wall of the shower was a beautiful wolf, her coat was light grey with flecks of white, her snout and chest were pure white , her eyes were sky blue, she landed and walked up to me wagging her tail, she then sat down beside me.

I had a temperature of , luckily doctors carried medication with them in those days and he gave me an antibiotic , the doctor waited and about 20 minutes later my heart had calmed down and I felt a little better.

I had a flu virus, no coughing or sneezing but the full flu virus with ever other symptom , It took me 12 weeks to get back to full health and I was immune to the flu that year. If the wolf had not come to me that day I would not have insisted on getting the doctor, but she did and I thank her every time I think of that summer. What does it mean when a wolf treat you like a daughter?

I did a meditation in eighth grade and my spirit animal was a wolf. I always felt a connection to wolves but sometimes I feel more animal than human. Am I having futuristic dreams? I also have these feelings to protect my friends and family and am very protective.

I sometimes feel stressed and I close my eyes and I feel this presence calming me down. Does any of this have any meaning? OK, will tell u the dream. Being half Native and half White…. I the white mom had this awesome dream: I was walking in a white town alone at night…I could hear people telling me not to go, but I did. I saw a people trying to steal something, Native people.

Then I saw some other church Natives on the upper story looking down where the thief was and me, an observer…I felt this sudden invisible power shove me into an adjoining cafeteria room and looked back into the opening area by the front doors and saw a battle begin between the thief and upstairs church people….

Glass shatters, a fountain was in the middle of the opening room and the thief jumps in it and shift changes into some magical water creature to fight…a while later everything is normal and the people are human Natives again.

I tell him about my daughter and my wish to join the church even tho I was white…. Later the scene changed and I see my young 7 year old daughter…we are planting flowers to take a photo by an old tree near the edge of a road. Right before we were done, some black men come to dig at the ditches and they uproot most all the plants… note: in real life, my daughter was taken at 3months old and adopted by my white parents ….

The scene is back at the town and I have my young girl and introduce her to the shaman. I then see myself evolve into the Otter and I leave…dream ends. She is now 19 and I myself am breaking ties with my abusive hypocritical Christian parents yet sent her a text that she please not share my new phone number with them but that I want her to know her grandparents until she decides differently.

I was meditating one day, in an attempt to meet my Spirit Guide. I came upon an Indian reservation. This was not odd to me, as I am of Native American descent. A wolf appeared to me, then ran into the woods. I was so puzzled I broke from the meditation. My next attempt to meet my Spirit Guide led me to the same reservation, same wolf running into the woods. I asked a psychic friend of mine if my Spirit Guide could be an animal..

After reading this article I am more than convinced…. Wolf is my Spirit Animal!! Thank you so much for this informative read!

Thank you so much for this comment because it helped me make a connection to visuals I was seeing in my meditation. It was a very spiritual experience in which I wondered if I was meeting spirit guides, but now it all makes sense… I think the wolf is my spirit animal as well. As a human I have an aggressive side. Yet on my calm side I have a compassionate side.

In meditation mode I picture a wolf in my vision. Aggressive towards those who harm the weak and compassionate to those who need a lift. Maybe finally I found my totem animal and if any of you have comments or knowledge about this please let mi know. My email is akashapower gmail. Yet ever since I was a teenager I felt a connection to them, unlike anything else. I now have a brand new wolf tattoo. So I can carry my Spirit Animal, and the 5 stars that represent my pack, with me for life.

I made a comment in the rabbit comments. I was a wolf. I will kill and die for my family and friends without hesitation. If they do something wrong that I do not agree with. And by that I mean, done the correct way and causes someone grief that could have easily been avoided.

I have never been this way. I am currently looking for anger management classes and taking meditation. I am not born between Jan 21st and Feb 19th to come under Native American wolf sign but I generally find a lot of similarities between this article and me.

Is this because it is convenient for me or I want it to be like this or is Wolf actually my spirit animal? I would be glad if anyone can help lessen the confusion and doubt a bit. What a fantastic article and definitely helped me undrlerstand myself and my deep connection to wolves. The wolf is my spirit, birth totem and power animal. Thanks so much. Just some wolf friendly advice! That means whether you are dishonored yourself and you may want to reflect on what you are doing or about to do before you cross that line….

I have a copious amount of wolf items as well. I very much appreciate this website. Suddenly a wolf appeared before me, he bent his head down toward mine till our foreheads were almost touching. Then just like that he was gone. What could this mean? I have dreamt of a wolf crashing through my bedroom window. Hello and thank you for this wonderful write up on wolf medicine! I had a rather awe-striking experience with wolf and would like to get more insight as to what it might mean… Once I was visiting a foreign country, they had in captivity, we visited a park where they had the largest, yet one of the last European wolf packs kept in a large domain.

Two times a day they were fed and people could go watch.. I do not remember the time we were there whether the time of feeding was closeby or not but anyway, people were there, trying to get a glimpse of this pack of legendary creatures. Not one could be seen. When we approached the fence, I immediately felt where they were hiding and something clicked.. He stood there right in front of me from across the fence, we were eye to eye. The look on his face felt somewhat familiar, he was very much at ease, yet I could feel a message was being communicated although at the time I think I was a bit too awestruck to even dare to begin try interpret what… I am just trying to find what this encounter could mean..

After this one I had a similar one, where 4 wolves came to greet me at another park, similar, people on Outlook for them, nowhere to be found, I come up to the stand and within seconds four of them emerge from behind the cliff..

Any insights would be much appreciated. I had a encounter very similar but more spiritual, I was on a walk collecting plants and I saw a pack of wolves about 50 feet up ahead. I thought that was really cool and howled like a wolf would just for fun. I have had two different dreams: a black wolf standing in the snow watching me, and another one with a white wolf curled up in some weed the next day.

What does it mean? I have also had an amazing encounter with wolves. We were at the International wolf center, where they had four wolves out, and the first time I went up to the window, a wolf walked right up to me, and only to me! He stared right at me. I felt protected by his stare. Warning me of what? Or what did they stay there distance but surround us as we were walking and talking in the forest..

I am Leader. I am wolf — like , strong and postive. I belive in never giving up and in loving myself. Wolves and their descendants dogs sometimes represent the best qualities humans can have. Their strength, courage, and loyalty to their community is what we should all strive for. I was driving down a dark country road one night, no other cars in sight. The moon was full, si I could see well. I came upon a huge white wolf just standing at the side of the road. I slowed down and watched it.

It never moved. This wolf was beautiful beyond imagination. I felt a great sense of happiness and mystique. I have never forgotten that encounter. The image remains strong in my mind, and I believe it always will. This has got to have some meaning. My great grandmother was a Cherokee. When I was a child, age 4 to be exact. I had a terrible nightmare, I sweat, and screamed all night upon each awakening only to return to the same dream.

A black wolf tearing my limbs off. What was worse I felt the physical pain of it all as I slept. I was terrified. I ran as fast as I could. Now I seek answers. Is this my spirit animal or something more malignant? Am I cursed? Or is it one of the darker wisdoms in life guiding me? Because wolves have an element of trickster vibe, this is often the response, in addition because of bad reps that wolves have gotten which has seeped into a lot of archetypal omens that are held by the human collective.

I hope this helps. I am just a person fascinated with this and similar topics, and in studying animal guides I notice all too often what i mentioned above. I would say that the wolf is probably a darkened soul that has become black from being horribly treated in some way. It could be possible that the black wolf tried to show you through your dream how it died or was being tortured. I had a simular dream except it was a human that had been horribly treated. Once I understood that he did not scare me to scare me but to show something that had happened to him he was gone to heaven and I even got to meet him there later through a dream.

You are not cursed, I think that you have the gift to see and feel someone elses pain and sometimes that is all that is needed to help someone let go of this world.

Is a wolf really my spirit animal? Once, I went to Amsterdam Zoo, and we went to the enclosure with the wolves, and one wolf followed me with its eyes and we stared at each for an eternity. Then it bowed its head at me.

I walked away slowly without turning my back to it until I could see it anymore. I felt a strong connection with it. An owl is supposed to be my spirit animal, but i have never really felt a connection with an owl. Is a wolf my spirit animal??? Your email address will not be published.
